Amigo - Gentle 12 Yr Old AQHA Registered Buckskin Gelding
2012 AQHA Registered Buckskin Gelding
12 years old and about 15 hands
Amigo is a thick, beautiful buckskin gelding and is easily the most trained horse we own. He has an energetic, can do attitude under saddle and has all of the manners you’ve come to expect from Lazy Oaks horses. It’s rare that we part with a personal horse so if you want one that is super special call us ASAP.
With the growth of our Lazy Oaks training program (thanks to all of you!!) we have gotten busier and busier. Most of our personal horses don’t mind getting some time off, however Amigo is just too trained and loves to have a job, so it’s tough to see him sit around. We have made the difficult decision to put him through the program and try to find a great forever home for him.
Amigo is incredibly safe and solid and will take care of his rider. He is quick and responsive with a strong work ethic and would be perfect for an experienced rider who will give him a job to do. He picks up both leads, carries the flag, side passes, rides through water and up and down stairs. He would be a great gymkhana or ranch riding horse and though we don’t rope, Amigo came to us as a finished head horse. He is blast around cows whether you rope or not.
Amigo has been exposed to barking dogs, UTVs, tractors, vehicle traffic, dirt bikes, coyotes, and all of the other loud, scary, unpredictable sights and sounds of ranch and trail life - he takes everything in stride. Although he could be, and has been, ridden by just about anyone on trail, we feel he would be best suited to a more experienced rider because he is so responsive. We have taken him on 10+ mile trail rides many days in a row through rocky terrain with slippery, steep footing, drop offs, and heavy tree cover and he was fantastic.
On the ground, around our children, he is gentle, friendly, and sweet. He is easy to catch in pasture and is equally happy in a stall in the barn. Both of our kids can halter him and load him in the trailer easily. We have loved him and trained him for the last 3 years and in that time he has been a gentleman, whether in the arena, the round pen, or on trail.
Amigo has been pre-vet checked and is up to date on vaccines, teeth, worming, and farrier. No maintenance.
